Now that you know the biology behind why you are struggling to lose weight,
let me expose some of the gimmicks in diet companies and food manufacturers use to fool a lot of people into buying their products, as how these gimmicks/ fad diets affect your body.
If you tried Low-carb diet where you are told to cut out foods containing carbohydrates like fruits and vegetables, bread, bagel, rice, beans, and whole milk, and you ended up gaining weight, here is why:
The human body naturally craves carbohydrates, especially our brain. And when you cut carbs out of your diet or drastically reduce them, your body will crave carbohydrates even more.
According to WebMd, “…foods marketed as low-carb may often contain high levels of saturated fat and calories.”
A low-carb diet will make you do crazy things like snap at your loved ones, or even make you do something like yell at anyone who cuts you off on the road when you are driving.
…Scientific studies have actually proved that a low-carb diet can stress you out.
Dr. Grant Brinkworth, an Australian researcher led a study on 106 dieters where they followed what they ate for a whole year. Half of the dieters ate a low-carb diet, while the other half were put on a diet rich in carbohydrates.
After a year, the dieters who were on a low-carb diet reported that they felt stressed out, while those who were on the diet that had a lot of carbohydrates reported that they felt happier, more focused, calmer, and less stressed.
Stress caused by a low-carb diet will raise the levels of the stress hormone in your body, called Cortisol. When the level of cortisol is high in your body, your appetite for food goes way up, and you end up bingeing.
